One of my aims is to get some pictures of the birds in my garden and this blackbird with the slightly droopy wing is a regular visitor. Unfortunately the stand for the bird table got in the way so I had to crop that out (original pic below).
I'm now the proud owner of a Finepix S5600. As I’m an enthusiastic rather than skilled photographer this blog will chart my efforts at learning how to use the camera so probably pictures that are as much luck as design at this stage. I'm booked on a 1 day "explore your digital slr" workshop in June so hopefully that will help me start to get to grips with some of the technical stuff. Anyway, I hope you'll enjoy some of my pictures, comments and constructive feedback are always welcome.

Chappel viaduct
It has these fantastic arches through each of the piers, though its difficult to capture the sense of perspective the same way it appears seeing it in person. I'll probably try this again some time, maybe different light conditions to see how it comes out.
leaves
Certainly not an original concept, but I like the shapes and muted colour palette. Interesting that a picture of something dead can seem to have movement that draws the eye around - think its the thin ivy stems that make it.
i love daisies
Ok, this wasn't actually taken with the new camera but I love daisies and was really pleased to get such a close up pic with my little happy snappy digital thing.
